Amida Care Welcomes Associate Medical Director Dr. Vera S. Antonios

On December 7, Amida Care welcomed a new Associate Medical Director, Vera S. Antonios, M.D., who most recently served as Medical Director, Health Services, at Harlem United. In that position, she played a supervisory role to providers and coaching in HIV, HCV, HBV and substance use, often working closely with Amida Care and our membership. (Dr. Antonios spoke as a panelist at an All About PrEP town hall presented by Amida Care and the NEW Pride Agenda this past April.)  Previously, Dr. Antonios was Harlem United’s Adult Medicine Medical Director, providing lead roles in Medication Assisted Treatment expansion and HCV program expansion.

Prior to Harlem United, Dr. Antonios worked at All Med Medical and Rehabilitation Center and Essen Medical Associates, both in the Bronx, as well as in other positions.

After attending medical school and completing her internship at Lebanese University in Beirut, Lebanon, Dr. Antonios served her residency at Staten Island University Hospital, after which she completed fellowships in infectious diseases and clinical microbiology at the Mayo Clinic.
