Amida Care is celebrating 20 years of excellence in health, advocacy, and care! In August 2003, seven community-based providers came together to form a health plan to serve New Yorkers impacted by HIV. Now Amida Care is New York’s largest Medicaid managed care Special Needs Health Plan.

Renew Your Medicaid Health Insurance to Stay Covered

You need to renew your Medicaid health insurance each year.  If you don’t renew, you will lose coverage, and you may be prevented from getting medical services including prescriptions.  Be on the lookout for a Medicaid renewal notice in the mail from NY State of Health (Marketplace) or Human Resources Administrative (HRA). Be sure that your contact information is updated, so you don’t miss this important letter.

To update your contact information, call NY State of Health at 1-855-355-5777 (TTY: 1-800-662-1220) or log into your account at nystateofhealth.ny.gov.

If you enrolled in Medicaid through Human Resources Administration (HRA), you can call the HRA Medicaid Helpline at 888-692-6116 or log into your account at ACCESS HRA.

ALERT !

Scammers are contacting Medicaid recipients asking for payment to renew their insurance. Don’t send any money; it is a con! There is no cost to renew your Medicaid. If you have questions or need help renewing your Medicaid, call Amida Care at 1-800-556-0689, TTY 711.

It’s time to get a mammogram!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and an important reminder to schedule your annual mammogram. Keep in mind: mammograms are the best tool we have for early detection of breast cancer, and early detection results in the most successful treatment outcomes. Another plus: you can earn $25 per annual screening through Amida Care’s Healthy Rewards Program. It’s a win-win situation.

There’s no better way to express love for yourself and for your partners than getting screened for STIs (sexually transmitted infections). Not only is sexual health an important part of your overall health, but it shows you truly care about yourself and those around you.

Common STIs include Chlamydia, HPV, gonorrhea, syphilis and herpes.  Did you know that syphilis is easy to cure when diagnosed and treated in its early stages? Plus, you can earn up to $20 for getting STI screenings through our Healthy Rewards program. Check it out here.

November is National Diabetes Month, a great reminder to get your eyes checked! Diabetic eye disease is a leading cause of blindness, but it often has no early warning signs. Amida Care members’ vision benefits include an eye exam every 24 months. Those with diabetes are eligible for a check-up every 12 months. And there are NO copayments for vision exams and other vision benefits. Find more information here.
